Disclaimer

Ethical Founder Law publishes general legal and financial information, not advice. No attorney-client relationship is created by using this site. Read our full legal, medical and financial disclaimers.

Effective date: 4 September 2026

Please read this page carefully. It applies to everything published on law.ethicalfounder.com.

1. This is information, not legal advice

Every article, guide, table, checklist and answer on this website is published for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not legal advice, and it is not offered as legal advice.

The law is jurisdictional, fact-specific and constantly changing. A rule that is accurate in Texas may be wrong in Tennessee. A deadline that applies to a claim against a private company may not apply to a claim against a city. A principle that governs a 2019 injury may have been amended since. Nothing written for a general audience can account for the facts of your case.

Only a lawyer licensed in your jurisdiction, who has reviewed your documents and your circumstances, can advise you.

2. No attorney–client relationship

Using this site, reading our guides, emailing us, or receiving a reply from us does not create an attorney–client relationship between you and Ethical Founder, Ethical Founder Law, or any of our writers, editors or contributors.

We are not a law firm. Our writers and editors are researchers, not licensed attorneys — a boundary we state openly in our Editorial Policy. We do not accept clients, we do not represent anyone, and we cannot take on your matter.

Do not send us confidential or time-sensitive case information. Communications sent to us are not privileged and are not protected by attorney–client confidentiality.

3. Deadlines are unforgiving — act on professional advice, not on ours

Legal claims are governed by strict filing deadlines: statutes of limitation, statutes of repose, notice-of-claim periods, administrative filing windows and contractual limitation clauses. In most cases, missing one permanently destroys an otherwise valid claim, regardless of how badly you were injured or how clearly the other party was at fault.

Some of these deadlines are far shorter than people expect — as little as 30 to 180 days for claims against government entities, and one year for general personal injury in some states.

If any deadline may be approaching in your matter, contact a licensed attorney immediately. Do not rely on this website, and do not wait for a reply from us.

4. Not financial, tax or investment advice

Our coverage of structured settlements, annuities, lump-sum buyouts, workers’ compensation settlements, spread betting, contracts for difference and retail foreign exchange trading is educational only.

It is not: investment advice; a recommendation to buy, sell, transfer, surrender or retain any financial product; a solicitation; tax advice; or a suitability assessment for you.

Financial products described on this site carry real risk of loss. Leveraged trading products in particular can result in the rapid loss of the entire amount deposited, and in some jurisdictions and account types, losses exceeding your deposit. Regulatory treatment, tax treatment and investor protections differ substantially by country and by your residency status.

Consult a licensed financial adviser, a qualified tax professional, or an accountant before acting.

5. Not medical advice

Some of our coverage — particularly on occupational disease, asbestos exposure and traumatic injury — necessarily describes medical conditions, diagnostic procedures and treatments.

None of it is medical advice. It is not a diagnosis, not a treatment recommendation, and not a substitute for consultation with a qualified physician. If you have symptoms or a known exposure history, speak to a doctor. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.

6. No guarantee of outcome

Nothing on this site should be read as a promise, prediction or guarantee about the outcome of any claim, case, negotiation, application or investment.

Past results described in any context do not predict future results. Descriptions of how claims are typically valued or resolved are explanations of a process, never a forecast of your result.

7. Accuracy, currency and completeness

We research carefully, cite primary sources and correct errors publicly under our Editorial Policy. We nevertheless make no warranty that the content of this site is accurate, complete, current or fit for any particular purpose.

Statutes are amended. Regulations are rewritten. Courts overrule prior decisions. Agencies reorganise and move their guidance. Content that was accurate when published may not be accurate when you read it. Always verify against the primary source and a licensed professional before acting.

8. External links

This site links to third-party websites, including government agencies, regulators, courts, research institutions and other publishers. Those links are provided for reference and verification.

We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices, and a link does not constitute an endorsement.

9. Third-party names, brands and trademarks

We sometimes name companies, insurers, annuity issuers, brokers and other organisations because accurate reporting requires naming them.

All trademarks, service marks and trade names referenced on this site are the property of their respective owners. Their use here is nominative and descriptive — for identification, commentary, comparison and criticism only. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or acting as an agent of any company we name, unless we say so explicitly.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Ethical Founder, Ethical Founder Law, and their owners, editors, writers, contributors and affiliates accept no liability for any loss or damage — including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive or special damages, and including lost claims, lost profits, lost opportunity, missed deadlines or reliance losses — arising from your use of, or reliance on, anything published on this website.

You use this site entirely at your own risk. If you do not accept this, please do not use the site.

Your use is also governed by our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

11. Advertising and commercial relationships

Where we have a commercial relationship that could reasonably be seen to affect our coverage, we disclose it on our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure page. We do not sell reader leads to law firms or claim buyers, and we do not sell editorial conclusions.

12. Jurisdictional note

This site is published from India and read internationally. Much of our legal coverage describes United States federal and state law because that is where the systems we explain operate. It is written for a general audience and is not tailored to the law of your country or state.

Nothing here is intended as an offer to provide legal services in any jurisdiction where doing so would require a licence we do not hold.
